The database for the global use and life cycles of plastic appears to be rather limited and in major parts, the available data comes with large uncertainties and limited reproducability. After intorducing a stock and flow model for the plastic use and life cycles, the data availability and quality will be discussed for different subsystems of this model. The final part of the session will identify the major issues and gaps, and indicate the contribution the community could make.
